Slow Down

Lately, everywhere I look, I see signs to slow down. So much of the time, I am rushing through my day. Before my feet ever hit the floor, my day is packed. I live a hurried, busy life.

This does not mean that I do not make time for the Lord. He is my rock and I could not get through one moment of my day without Him. But sometimes, I do forget to look around at the blessings of the day. I forget to soak up each moment with Him.

Maybe my schedule is a little overloaded. Maybe it is time to lay a few things down, to live a simpler life. No matter how booked my schedule is, there will always be room for God.

Without Him, I have nothing and can do nothing. With Him, all things are possible.

This morning, I want you to take a moment and look out a door or window. See the beauty outside. The tree limbs dancing with the wind. The birds waking up with their first song of the morning. The sun painting the sky. Deep breath. This is the world that God created. Look at the intricacy of His creation. He lovingly took the time to make all the different colors in the sky, the birds look unique and different, and the trees with all their differently shaped leaves.

Now, think about people. God made each of us. He gave us gifts and talents. He gave us a heart to love others. He gave us a desire for fellowship. He lovingly took the time to create everything about you. He loves you. All He wants is a relationship with you.

Maybe that means that you have to lay down a few things to make time in your schedule for Him. Seek Him first and everything else will fall into place. Allow Him to guide your steps and He will set your path.

Take a moment every morning to slow down and appreciate the day that God has given us. Let us use this gift to grow closer to Him.
