Are you familiar with Exodus 14:14? “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” I have seen this verse referenced a lot, but have you ever read the next verse? Exodus 14:15 “And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”

If you stopped at verse 14, then you might think that be still means to sit down, and stop working for the Lord. What does it mean to be still?

The Lord will fight for you. The battle that you are currently facing is not yours, but the Lords. That is why in the armor of God, the only offense is the Word of the Lord. Everything else in the armor is defensive.

Be still means to quit trying to fight on your own. Allow God to be the Lord of your life. Trust that His ways are the best ways and that He has a plan for your life. God will guide you, but you have to stop and listen.

And the next verse, go forward. This is where you have to act. You cannot accomplish God’s plan and purpose by staying still. You must start moving and which way are you moving – forward. One step in front of the other. Listening, fellowshipping, praying, and working.

God chose you. He placed a calling on your life. He appointed you. Do not let your current battle keep you from working for the Lord. Allow Him to fight this battle and keep moving forward.

Be still and go forward.
