There was a time in my life when I thought I was a moderately nice person. My personality and disposition could use some improvement, but overall they were decent. I saved up my prayers for the big stuff, things that I felt were out of my control. I felt as though God was busy fixing other peoples’ lives and did not need to be bothered with things I could fix myself.
I could clean myself up and look the part. I proudly proclaimed that I was a Christian. On Sundays when it was convenient, I went to church, sat in a pew and gave my one hour to the Lord. I really thought I had a good life.
And then I experienced total surrender and my life changed.
There is a huge difference between proclaiming to be a Christian and walking with Christ.
I had to be done living life on my own terms. I had to give up control over what happens next. I had to allow God to love me.
Once I allowed God in, my desires changed, my thought process changed, I was different. This life that I walk with God is better than anything life I could have made for myself. This life is full of love and fulfillment. It has changed the way I view myself and the way I view others. God is molding me to be the person that He knows I can be. Something far different than what I could do on my own.
This life is the best life. This life is worth living.
If you are stuck in the same rut that I was, I just have one question for you – are you done yet? Are you done struggling? Are you done feeling isolated? Are you done feeling like you do not measure up? Are you done denying the call that God has placed on your life? Are you done trying to clean yourself up? Are you done trying to be good enough by everyone else’s standards?
Surrender your life to the Lord today. You were never meant to carry this load. God is there. God is waiting for you to allow Him to be the Lord of your life. It is the best decision I ever made. What is holding you back? Nothing is too big for God to handle.
It is time to quit proclaiming to be a Christian and start walking with Christ.
