Have you ever noticed that when you watch other people while you are walking, you either trip over or run into something? Nobody – just me I guess. I have to pay attention to where I am walking and I try real hard not to get distracted. Distraction leads to all sorts of embarrassing tales.
The same is true in our walk with God. If we focus on the paths of those around us, then we miss out on what our own path has to offer. We spend so much time wondering why we do not have someone else’s talents and gifts that we don’t develop our own gifts and talents.
Yes, you need to spend time developing your skills God has given you. I did not sit down one day and write a book. I have been writing for over ten years. God kept working on me until He knew I was ready. He had way more confidence in my writing ability that I did, but together we finished it. I am not the person or Christian that I was ten years ago. I am so thankful to God that He never gave up on me and He still continues to mold me today.
Even though our walks are not the same, we have the same goal – tell the world about Jesus. Your way will reach people that my way will not and my way will reach people that yours will not. That is why it is so important to walk the path that God has planned for you. To use the gifts and talents God has given you.
Pay attention to your walk and allow God to do the rest.
