Woman at the Well

John 4:4-42 tells of Jesus encounter with the woman at the well. The woman came to the well in the middle of the day to gather her water. We know for sure that this was a time when no one else would have been at the well gathering water so she did not want to see anyone.

We can tell from her response in verse 9 that she felt she was not worthy for Jesus to speak to her. Maybe it was because of her past or present decisions, it really does not say. But Jesus loved this woman. He knew her past, present and future and He offered her living water. He showed her grace.

None of us deserves God’s grace, but He gives it freely. We have all messed up and keeping messing up. God loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) even when we do not love ourselves. Whatever you are going through today, lay your burdens down at the feet of Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30). Know that God loves you and did not come to condemn you (John 3:17) Accept the free gift of salvation (John 3:16) and experience peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6).

Be changed just like the woman at the well who in verse 28 left her waterpot and went into the city telling everyone about Jesus. And in verse 39 and many of the Samaritans of the city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified.
